A PAINTED HOUSE BY JOHN GRISHAM

Good morning bibliophiles and thank God for the beautiful day.
Another of John Grisham's novel today

Until that September of 1952,
Luke Chandler had never kept a
secret or told a single lie. But in
the long, hot summer of his
seventh year, two groups of
migrant workers -- and two very dangerous men
-- came through the Arkansas Delta to
work the Chandler cotton farm.
And suddenly mysteries are
flooding Luke's world.

A brutal murder leaves the town seething in gossip and suspicion.
A beautiful young woman ignites
forbidden passions. A fatherless
baby is born ... and someone has
begun furtively painting the bare
clap boards of the Chandler farmhouse, slowly, painstakingly, bathing the run-
down structure in gleaming
white. And as young Luke
watches the world around him,
he unravels secrets that could shatter lives -- and change his
family and his town forever....
Hope you'll enjoy it like i did .

SANDERS OF THE RIVER BY WALLACE EDGAR

Hello people, i have another of Wallace Edgar book and the setting is in Africa

Sanders is a British colonial District Commissioner in Colonial
Nigeria. He tries to rule his province
fairly, including the various tribes
comprising the Peoples of the River. He
is regarded with respect by some and
with fear by others, among whom he is
referred to as "Sandi" and "Lord Sandi".
He has an ally in Bosambo, a literate and educated chief .

When Sanders goes on leave, another
chief, King Mofolaba, spreads the
rumour that "Sandi is dead." Intertribal
war seems inevitable, and the situation
is made worse by gun-runners and
slavers.

His relief, Lord Ferguson, is unequal to
the task. Sanders returns to restore
peace. When Bosambo's wife Lilongo is kidnapped, the
chief tracks down her kidnappers.
Captured by them, he is saved by a
relief force commanded by Sanders.
Bosambo kills King Mofolaba in
retaliation for his wife's kidnapping.

THE SECRET HOUSE BY WALLACE EDGAR.

Hello bibliophiles!
Hope you had a great weekend? And a working monday i hope.
we're reviewing old books today, when i say old, think 1917 or there about.

Basically The
Secret House is about a blackmailing
scheme that this SUPER odd editor of a
gossip magazine has going (he wears a
veil and disappears into secret passages
in his office), and his secretary, "the
adventurer" Poltavo, who's cool with
cashing in on that. As for the secret
house, it would be more accurate to say
it's a house OF secrets rather than a
secret house. It's full of secret passages
and has more elevators than an Otis
factory.

THE ADVENTURER BY HAROLD ROBBINS

Hi bibliophiles!
it's been a while? I said it in my earlier post that i don't want to keep cramming up the blog with unread books, so that's why i give it a time interval.

Back to the book I'm reviewing today, "the adventurer"it's an old book but i find it kind of interesting.

Dax, still a child, witnesses the slaughter of his mother and sisters in yet another of the endless
skirmishes which has ravaged Corteguay. Dax's father is a respected lawyer trying to broker peace, which gradually comes with the inauguration of "el Presidente,"former revolutionary and now president of Corteguay.

Through this sequence we have many thrilling moments, as a young Dax learns how to survive in the jungle. Here he also meets two characters who will become important throughout his life:
Amparo, a blonde-haired Corteguayan girl his age who is the daughter of el
Presidente, and Fat Cat, a heavy set
revolutionary who moves as silent as a
ninja and who becomes Dax's bodyguard/ best friend/father figure for life.
